Makeup lessons at home can be a fun, relaxing girls get together. I was invited to do an at home lesson and demonstration to help raise money for the Hallam FM Cash For Kids Wedding competition. Naturally I was delighted to be asked and to help raise cash for such a great cause.
Cream Tea in a Lovely Home!
The event was held in the lovely home of Gaynor in Doncaster, she invited friends and family and put on a gorgeous afternoon tea (including the BEST cream scones I have ever eaten!) and the wine was flowing.
Tips and Techniques Galore!
As you can see from the pictures taken at the event, it’s a great way to get up close and personal and ask me as many questions as you want! Gaynor volunteered to be my model and I chose to do a soft, elegant look using golds and brows on her eyes. I showed the girls how to use matt cream and brown shadow to create a higher crease on the eyelid and therefore make the eyes look bigger and more youthful. This works by creating an optical illusion and pushes back the lid from below the brow bone to the crease to make that area seem tighter. I used the Younique Moodstruck Eyeshadow Palette Number 1 for her eyes, followed by Mally mascara. Gaynor has quite gappy brows though they are a nice shape naturally, she was considering having semi permanent tattooed brows until I showed her how easy it is to fill in brows using Younque’s brow gel and brow liner!
More Questions …
Everyone was keen to know how to cover up dark, blue circles under the eyes, so I showed the how to use an orange concealer to colour correct then pat regular concealer over the top. (My blog here on how to cover up Panda Eyes goes into detail). I used Younique’s Touch Mineral Liquid Foundation, primer and eye primer for that flawless base. I warmed up her cheeks with a bright coral pink blusher, the intensity of the shade really frightened her but she loved how it looked on the skin! I did some subtle contouring with a matt bronzer and a dusting of translucent pressed powder down her forehead, nose and chin set everything. A nude glossy lip was created by using Younique’s Lipgloss in the shade Luxe – it is my all -time favourite nude gloss which seems to suit every skin tone and has just the right warm apricot tone to be flattering and not wash you out.
The Finished Look
They were a fab a lively group of women who wanted to know my advice on everything from choosing the right foundation colour to how to cheat great cheekbones. The finished look for Gaynor is here, let me know what you think? A session like that is great fun and the perfect excuse for a Girls Night In.
